The Company

As part of a group of companies, our client is one of the world's leading manufacturers of microporous high-temperature insulation and vacuum insulation panels. Our customer develops with its own research and technology and produces innovative, tailor-made solutions in both the low and high temperature range.

This role in the reporting team will be primarily responsible for the management and statutory reporting for the German and Polish sites. You will work in partnership with the rest of the European Reporting team and European Shared Service Finance Team, liaising with all sites across EMEA and the head office based in the UK.

The Task

  • Complete IFRS group reporting activities for the German & Polish entities:
    • Ensure all group reporting submissions e.g. weekly sales, monthly actuals, half yearly statutory disclosures are completed accurate and fully in line with agreed deadlines
    • Complete appropriate reconciliations not undertaken by other functions on a monthly basis in line with agreed deadlines e.g. prepayments, accruals etc.
    • Ensure prompt and efficient resolution of reconciliation queries
  • Complete local GAAP statutory accounting and compliance for the German & Polish entities:
    • Ensure local statutory compliance issues including completion and filing of statutory accounts in accordance with local laws and regulations.
    • Completion and filing of annual returns.
    • Liaising with the external auditors to ensure completion of audit of financial statements.
  • Manage fixed assets activities for the German & Polish entities:
    • Maintain the fixed asset system for additions and disposals continuously
    • Co-ordinate with operations and sales offices to ensure regular cycle counts/physical counts for fixed assets are conducted and records retained (including tagging/recording in the fixed asset register)
    • Ensure that asset impairment testing is performed annually, actions are taken accordingly, and records retained.
    • Maintain the fixed asset system for leased assets, ensuring full compliance with IFRS16
    • Complete monthly reconciliations for fixed assets (including IFRS16 leased analysis) in line with agreed deadlines
    • Ensure Group monthly IFRS16 submissions are completed accurately and in line with agreed deadlines
  • Work closely with the European Treasury, Payroll & Fiscal team to ensure local tax declarations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Cross train within department to ensure shared knowledge of other areas of reporting and to provide backup in these processes as required
  • Ensure processes and procedures are fully documented and completed in standardised manner across all of Europe
  • Support best practice and lean initiative improvements in the function, including automation of processes
  • Support other areas of finance and reporting team, as required


  • Qualified accountant (at minimum)
  • Reconciliation & corporate reporting experience
  • Understanding of IFRS
  • Detailed understanding of German GAAP and German statutory accounting process
  • Ability to communicate in English and German to a good standard
  • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, whilst using initiative to achieve desired goals
  • Methodical, organised and an eye for detail
  • Knowledge of JDE E1 ERP system or similar global ERP system
