Role

As Head of Operations, reporting to the Executive Vice President/CEO Benelux, you will start in a new position and play a vital role in the further growth, development and management of the organization across multiple domains such as: People Management, Resource Management, Marketing, Finance & Admin and ICT.

Your goal will be to provide efficient and pragmatic support for the proper functioning of the entire office and as such freeing up time of the Exco members for “Client” work as well as to elaborate on a vision and a strategy to upgrade the current standards and practices of the internal organization, where relevant.

You will be the operational backbone of the company and responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the internal workflow and practical concerns of the office as well as to implement processes and/or systems to help ensure good management of the organization, while securing and stimulating employee engagement and market reputation.

The role is essential to the functioning and success of the team. You will be the key driver to ensure the organization is well positioned for success.

Success will be measured in two ways, based on individual performance and based on team performance:

  • evaluation of individual performance will be based on agreed quantitative and qualitative objectives per domain, satisfaction of internal clients, initiatives taken and contribution to the development of the practice in general;
  • evaluation of team performance will be based on the realisation of the business plan of the Brussels office, expressed in business KPI's.

Key Responsibilities

As Head of Operations, and right hand of the Executive Committee and its members, and in line with the values and culture of the organization, you will be responsible for “each” domain to:

  • collaborate with the Executive Committee in setting and driving the organizational vision, operational strategies and needs;
  • translate strategies into actionable goals and to create, implement and roll out the plans for operational processes, infrastructures, systems, tools and policies;
  • either execute the agreed initiatives or to drive and monitor their execution;
  • implement dashboards and systems to measure results and progress;
  • identify and drive changes for improvement and implement or monitor the implementation of the necessary adjustments;
  • coordinate and assure the smooth running of the daily operations.

Specific responsibilities and objectives per domain, will be provided in a later stage of the recruiting process.

Required Experience/Qualifications

Our client is seeking to hire a competent and versatile individual with the ability to keep an eagle-eye view on a wide range of topics. Ideally the candidate should have:

  • a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in (a) comparable role(s) (e.g. Operations Manager, Head of (Business) Operations, Office Manager, Chief Operating Manager, etc.) in a professional services environment;
  • direct and extensive experience/demonstrated success with running day-to-day operations as well as facilitating change and developing and implementing best practices and improvement projects;
  • hands-on experience with People Management and Digital Marketing, with preferably at least one of the other functional domains within scope;
  • a solid base in business planning: budgeting, forecasting and reporting;
  • strong experience in project management including planning, organizing and coordinating staff;
  • experience in cultivating company culture;
  • experience in working in international and fast-paced environments;
  • excellent knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • a genuine interest and knowledge of IT infrastructure;
  • a Masters degree in a relevant field or similar by experiences;
  • Excellent command of English, Dutch and French.

Previous Consulting delivery experience is considered a plus.

    • experience in business process management, process modeling & analysis, operating model and organizational design and in deploying metrics and critical performance measures (e.g.: SLA’s, KPI’s);
    • working knowledge of project and program management practices and methodologies (certification highly preferred);
    • solid change management expertise and experience (certification highly preferred);
    • strong (workshop) facilitation, (steering) presentation and stakeholder management skills;
    • demonstrated leadership qualities with a proven track record in managing and coaching people towards the targeted results;
    • experience with writing and reviewing proposals, elaborating estimates, financial forecasting and budget control experience;

    Role

    As Business Progression & Transformation Consultant, you will advise and support (local and/or international) clients to secure the success of their “Boost & Build” initiatives by:

    • supporting client leadership in shaping the overall vision for the organization;
    • providing experience based specialist/expert advice;
    • managing “in tandem with the client” the delivery of exciting and challenging assignments or workstreams including all aspects of project, client and people management with minimal supervision;
    • shaping and delivering qualitative deliverables by understanding the client’s expectations;
    • assisting with ”operationalizing” and gaining commitment for the “Progression” program;
    • challenging the business teams on ongoing initiatives and proactively identifying likely issues that could impact the pursued results;
    • assisting client team members (sub-project leads, line management, etc.) with specific project implementations tracks through project support, knowledge transferring and coaching;
    • implementing performance management systems and a culture to sustain the gains and drive continuous improvement;
    • developing and/or maintaining strong client relationships and being recognized by them as a trusted advisor”;
    • assisting in growing the business through the origination of new opportunities and proposal development;
    • contributing to Practice development through the growing of intellectual capital and the support and development of other consultants;
    • enhancing the reputation or our client through the quality of own work, knowledge and experience.

    Required Experience/Qualifications

    Ideally the candidate should have:

    • a minimum of 3 years of business/operations experience in relevant and progressively more responsible positions in either a management consultancy or in a combination of consulting and project based client work;
    • direct experience with successful transformation and/or performance - and quality improvement projects at multiple levels in an organization, utilizing change and project management methods;
    • proven experience in workshop facilitation and (Steering) presentations;
    • experience in business process management and in deploying metrics and critical performance measures (eg: SLA’s, KPI’s);
    • change management expertise is an advantage; recognizing its importance and willingness to develop these skills are a must;
    • familiarity with new digital technologies such as: data & analytics, cross company data integration, IoT, AI, simulation, cloud computing, advanced robotics is a plus;
    • a Master degree in a Business or Engineering related field preferably along with an MBA.

    Languages

    Good active knowledge of Dutch and English with additionally French for the Belgian office.
