The Company   

Our client is a fast-growing medical device company in the field of neurovascular solutions. Being active globally in several dozen markets our client is aiming to substantially grow its revenue base especially in the European market as a next step.
To support this organic growth and prepare the organization for future scale-up our client has asked us to identify and onboard a Senior Director Operations (all genders) to support this development in Germany. Reporting into the COO, this role offers an outstanding challenge and perspective for experienced operations professionals to take an existing organization to the next level. In this position you will be able to operationally and strategically contribute to the growth ambitions and, through your experience and actions, shape and develop the organization of the future.

Your Main Tasks

  • Active change management with regard to the upcoming process optimization and further development of the organization towards an organization characterized by operational excellence
  • Independent control, management, and further development of operations activities at the German site in close cooperation with the other operations sites and in compliance with the economic and quality-relevant specifications for the realization of customer requirements
  • Functional and disciplinary management of 4 direct reports and 80 employees in the areas of production, operating resources, facility management and project & quality incl their personal and career developments
  • Improvement of the production area to "state of the art" standards and the production systems/processes in terms of CIP, lean production and automation
  • Deriving and controlling organization-specific Must-Do-actions and KPIs, as well as planning personnel requirements and personnel development measures for the area of responsibility
  • Team coordination, monitoring of production processes, data analysis, problem solving, process improvement, cooperation with other departments, budget monitoring, ensuring the implementation of and compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines
  • Participate in global Operational Excellence Projects as required.

Your Profile

  • Preferably a degree in Engineering (Bachelor or higher) or a comparable education, ideally with a focus on Production / Operations
  • More than 20 years of experience in Operations in an international, SME-style organization with substantial leadership responsibility
  • Experience with Change projects in Operations environments
  • Substantial experience with Lean Management, Continuous improvement and KPI-driven management, as well as Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience with internationally distributed production sites
  • Strong leadership / team management experience
  • Empathy and cross-cultural sensibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, project and time management skills
  • Hands-on, practical and commercial approach to problem solving
  • Fluent in English and German, additional languages are an advantage
  • Agile mindset and experience in matrix organizations
