Context of the Role
Reports to: Board Chairman/CEO
Scope:
The company currently has a turnover of approximately R 250 million with innovations in the pipeline that can grow it to R 300 to R 400 million. Organogram available.

Objective of the Role:
The CEO is expected to be a hands-on operator that will manage all aspects of the company, provide stability for the organization, developing and executing a strategy that will drive profitable growth.

Strategy:
- Develop the strategy, business plan, annual operating plan and budget to drive profitable growth over the short and medium term.
- Drive continuous improvements by providing technical expertise and leadership within the engineering, quality and production departments.
- Competitive landscape and the company's positioning.
- New and existing market development
Organisation:
- Lead, coach and motivate individuals and teams, focusing direct reports on key performance areas to achieve business objectives.
- Identifying and effectively managing risks and opportunities.
- Development of management team, ensuring sustainability.
- Management team succession plan in place.
Commercial:
- Contribute directly to marketing the company's brand and products through key customer relationships, in order to secure additional profitable contracts.
- Key customer penetration and satisfaction, ensuring profitable growth in line with business plan.
- Manage relationships with key customers, the Board and relevant industry bodies.
Financial Wellness:
- Accountable for achieving company financial results, including profit and cashflow.
- EBITDA

Key Competences
- Leadership, ability to develop, empower and manage, be part of a team.
- Good Electro Mechanical engineer. Insights into this competence will enable this leader to innovate to increase sales, typically resulting from customer driven design engineering and design engineering into gaps identified in the market.
- A keen insight into R&D lead sales. Intuitively lead and guide the team through viable product development cycles that will sustain this company’s leading role in its industry.
- Passion for client relationship management.
- Understand / worked in relatively small / Batch manufacturing /Service, managing productivity and cost in such a manufacturing environment. Here we are looking for a leader that worked him/herself up through the ranks. Most likely have been exposed to production management systems.
- Good grip on costing and financial issues. At least at a level of “Finance for Non Financial Managers.
- Worked in union based business.
- Worked in privately owned business during career would be a benefit, it may facilitate a seamless takeover/handover from the current owner
- Personality consultative in nature.
Qualifications
- Electro-Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
- MBA would be advantageous
Remuneration
A structured, market related salary package consisting of a basic salary and incentive bonus, commensurate with experience and positions held to date.
