The Company
Our client is a Japanese manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries and battery management systems for the automotive industry. The company has operations in Japan, the USA and Europe and is highly regarded for the quality of its products.
They are looking for a
Business Development Manager Battery Systems for this newly created position reporting to the Managing Director in Germany.

Your Responsibilities
- Identify growth opportunities with new clients, drive customer acquisition and revenue growth
- Develop and implement market entry and growth strategies with special focus on product positioning with European automotive OEMs
- Perform competitive and market analyses and define target audiences
- Develop the strategy leading to successful international market development and coordinate the relevant product and marketing activities
- Build market share through targeted activities to increase brand awareness and preference in target regions
- Interface with R&D, Manufacturing and Supply Chain in the Japanese HQ to ensure optimal flow of information within the product development process
- Act as the primary contact for potential customers during contract negotiations and closing deals for long-term partnerships
- Participate in trade shows
Your Profile
- A degree in engineering or technical field as well as relevant commercial qualifications
- In-depth sales/business development experience in a manufacturing company within the automotive industry
- An active network within the European OEM sector
- A structured, sustainable and goal-oriented business development approach that underpins your strong closing skills
- Experience with hybrid/electric vehicles and/or battery/accumulator technologies would be a distinct advantage
- Intercultural experience – if you have worked with Japan before that would be another advantage
- Excellent English; German and/or Japanese would be (very) nice to have
- Willingness to travel
